In the details

A small thing: the eggs

I boiled six eggs this morning. The shell of one cracked, a thin dark line like a secret. I left it on the windowsill, where the sun catches it. It’s not much, but it’s real. Somehow, that feels right for today.

Three observations for the occasion

The cat tried to 'help' me pick tulips. She brought back a dandelion and looked very proud.
I put on my good coat, then went outside and immediately knelt in mud. So now it's a different good coat.
My neighbor's kid asked if the Easter bunny is real. I said, 'He's as real as the chocolate he leaves.'

Said out loud

Words to say out loud

Today, I’m thinking of you. Not because you’re far or near, but because you make the world better just by being in it. I hope you have a good breakfast, a slow morning, and a few moments where you don’t think about what’s next. I hope the light through your window is kind. And I hope you remember how good it is to just be alive, here, now.
