In the details

The chalk dust on your sleeves

I remember how you'd pause mid-sentence, wipe your hands on your trousers, and smile at the class. That little gesture meant everything. You taught us equations and grammar, but also how to stop and take a breath. Decades later, I still think of that when I'm rushing.

Three observations for the occasion

You never once let us see you yawn, even during the 3 PM class.
Your blackboard writing was so neat we forgave the mistakes you erased.
We always knew you'd call on the student who wasn't looking at you.

Said out loud

A few words, from the heart

Thank you for the early mornings, the patient explanations, and the kind eyes. You gave us more than a curriculum — you gave us a sense that we could figure things out. So here's to the quiet moments, the after-class questions, the jokes that landed. Here's to you, teacher. We're grateful, and we remember.
