The Magpie Bridge

They say magpies form a bridge across the Milky Way tonight, just for two people to meet. I like that image—not a grand gesture, but thousands of small wings making a path. It's like how our days are full of tiny efforts we don't notice until the end, when we're together.

Three observations for the occasion

The convenience store sold out of flowers by six; I settled for a mango, and now it's in a vase looking confused.
I tried to draw a magpie for you, but it looks more like a pigeon with a long tail. The thought is there, the art isn't.
Feeding the neighborhood cats their extra dinner tonight; they don't know it's Qixi, but they appreciate the calendar.

A Toast to This Quiet Night

Here's to us, and to the small chores turned rituals—the plate we share, the walk after dark. May we always find our way to each other, even on the busiest of days. We don't need the stars to align; we just need a moment, a phone call, a text that says 'thinking of you.' Tonight, I'm thinking of you. Thanks for being my constant among the chaos.
