Wedding card messages: what to write inside the card

The gift is wrapped, the card is blank, and the reception starts in an hour. These wishes cover every kind of guest, from the coworker who barely knows the groom to the best friend who introduced them.

Simple wedding wishes for any guest

“Congratulations on your wedding day! Wishing you a lifetime of love and laughter.”

“So happy for you both. Here's to the start of something wonderful.”

“Best wishes on your marriage. May every year be better than the last.”

“Congratulations, newlyweds! Enjoy every moment of today.”

“Wishing you both a home full of kindness, patience and good coffee.”

“Cheers to love, to friendship and to the two of you.”

“Congratulations! Thank you for letting us share in your big day.”

Heartfelt wishes for a close friend's wedding

“I've watched you find yourself and then find each other. It's been one of the joys of my life. Congratulations.”

“You two make love look like teamwork. I hope it always feels this easy, and when it doesn't, I hope you remember today.”

“May your marriage be a soft place to land and a strong place to stand.”

“Seeing you look at each other today, I understood everything. Love you both.”

“I knew from the first dinner that this was it. So glad I was right.”

“Here's to the quiet days too: grocery runs, rainy Sundays, the ordinary life you're about to build together. I hope it's full.”

Funny wedding card messages (for couples who like a laugh)

“Congratulations on finding the one person who will put up with your snoring forever.”

“Marriage tip: you're both right. Now go have cake.”

“Here's to love, laughter and many years of arguing over the thermostat.”

“Wishing you a lifetime of shared closets and someone else to blame for the dishes.”

“Congrats! You've officially found your favorite person to annoy for life.”

“Remember: “I do” works great at the altar. “You're right” works even better at home.”

From parents, grandparents and family

“We've loved you since your first breath, and today we love you even more watching you love someone else so well.”

“Welcome to the family. We're so glad it's you.”

“Your grandfather and I were married for fifty-one years. I hope you get every one of those years, and more.”

“We didn't lose a son today. We gained one more person to love, and a lot more noise at holidays. Congratulations.”

“Watching you grow up was the best thing we ever did. Watching you marry is a close second.”

If you can't be there on the day

“I'm so sorry to miss the celebration. I'll be raising a glass to you from here.”

“Wish I could be there to cry at the vows. Sending all my love across the miles.”

“I can't make it, but my heart is in the front row. Congratulations to you both.”

“Please save me a slice of cake in spirit. I'll celebrate with you properly when I see you.”

For a second marriage or a later-in-life wedding

“Love has no deadline. So happy you found each other.”

“Here's to second chances and first dances. Congratulations.”

“You both know what matters now, and it shows. Wishing you every happiness together.”

A few rules for writing in a wedding card

When the card needs more room

If you're close to the couple and want to say more than a card holds, your wedding letter can close an artmoovik. A painting appears stroke by stroke on their screen to a song made for it, and your words come up after the final brushstroke, with a certificate number. You can describe how they met, and a portrait can be painted from a photo of the two of them. Its words and music are made with AI tools. The link can play on the TV at the reception or later at home.

Ready letters you can use

Paste one under the film as it is, or change every word — the letter appears at the end of the artmoovik, after the last stroke.

“To the two of you: watching you say your vows today, I felt so much happiness I could barely hold my glass straight. You bring out the best in each other, and you do it without trying. May your marriage be full of laughter, honest talks and long walks home. Congratulations, and thank you for letting me be part of it.”

“We've known you since you were small enough to sit on the kitchen counter, and now you're married. It's hard to believe and easy to celebrate. We love you both and are so proud of the home you're about to build. Be patient, be kind, and never stop dancing in the kitchen.”

“I'm sorry I can't be with you today, but I'll be thinking of you at every moment I know is happening: the walk down the aisle, the first kiss, the first dance. You two are a joy to know. I'll raise a glass to you tonight and give you a proper hug soon.”

Questions

What do you write in a wedding card for someone you don't know well? A simple, sincere wish is best: “Congratulations on your wedding! Wishing you both a lifetime of happiness.” Then sign your full name.

Should I mention money in a wedding card? It's optional. A light line like “a little something toward your new home” is enough. You don't need to say the amount.

What do I say in a wedding card if I can't attend? Say you're sorry to miss it, that you're celebrating from afar, and that you look forward to seeing them soon.

Can a wedding artmoovik be made from our photo? Yes. Portraits from a photo are included in a made-for-you piece ($25). You see the first sketch within 24 hours; after you approve it, the painting and song are usually finished in 1 to 2 days.

What is the refund policy on custom pieces? You get all your money back if the work isn't made. If the first sketch isn't right, it is redone once.
