What a 1 of 1 NFT gift is, explained without the jargon
You may have seen “comes with a 1 of 1 NFT” on a gift and wondered whether you need to understand crypto. Usually you don't. This page explains what the token is, what it holds, what a wallet is for, and what it does not promise.
The short version
An NFT is a digital record that says who holds a particular piece of digital work. “1 of 1” means only one such token exists for that work: there is no edition of ten or a hundred. Think of it as a certificate of ownership kept in a public ledger instead of a drawer. The gift itself, the thing the person watches, reads or listens to, works on its own. The token is an extra layer for people who want it.
A few words, decoded
- Token (NFT): a unique entry on a blockchain that points to one digital work and shows which wallet holds it.
- Blockchain: a shared public ledger that many computers keep in sync, so records are hard to change or fake.
- Network: the specific blockchain the token lives on. Ethereum and Base are two examples.
- Wallet: an app or browser extension that holds the keys to your tokens and coins.
- Marketplace: a website, such as OpenSea, where people can view, transfer or list tokens.
What a wallet is, and how to keep one safe
A wallet does not store anything physical. It holds the private keys that prove a token belongs to you. When you create one, you get a recovery phrase, usually twelve or twenty-four words. Anyone with that phrase controls the wallet, and if you lose it, nobody can get it back for you. Write it on paper, keep it somewhere safe, and never type it into a website or send it to anyone, including support staff. If that sounds like more responsibility than you want, you can skip the wallet entirely and simply enjoy the gift.
What the owner of an artmoovik token actually gets
- The painting and its song, held as a 1 of 1 token on the Base network.
- Proof that nobody else has the same piece. When an artmoovik is sold, it leaves the gallery for good and is never painted or sold again; the token and the numbered certificate record that.
- Not the names or the letter. The recipient's name and your letter stay on the private gift page. They are not written into the token, so a personal message never ends up on a public ledger.
- Freedom to choose: keep the token, give it to someone, or list it on OpenSea or another marketplace.
You don't need to understand crypto to enjoy the gift
The person you give an artmoovik to receives a private link. It opens in any browser, with no app, no sign-up and no wallet. They watch the painting appear stroke by stroke to its song, read your letter, and see the certificate number. That is the whole experience. The token sits in the background for anyone curious about it. The painting is drawn by code, the artist creates the idea and the story, and the words and music of the song are made with AI.
What a token does not mean
- It is not an investment, and we make no claims about price, resale or future value. Treat it as a record of ownership, nothing more.
- It is not a physical painting. Nothing is shipped; the final frame can be saved and printed if you want a copy on the wall.
- Holding a token does not by itself transfer copyright in a work. For any NFT, check the seller's terms if this matters to you.
Questions to ask before buying any NFT gift
- What exactly is in the token: the full work, a preview, or just a link?
- Which network is it on, and are there fees to move it?
- Can the recipient enjoy the gift without a wallet?
- Is any personal information stored on the public ledger?
- Is the seller clear about what is made by people, by code and by AI?
Ready letters you can use
Paste one under the film as it is, or change every word — the letter appears at the end of the artmoovik, after the last stroke.
“There is only one of these in the world, and now it is yours. You don't need to know anything about tokens to enjoy it. Just press play, watch the painting come together and listen to the song. The rest is a small certificate saying this belongs to you.”
“I chose this because it will never be made again, a bit like the year we just had. Keep it, replay it, show it to whoever you like. The token is a nice extra; the picture, the song and these words are the real gift. Happy new beginnings.”
Questions
What does 1 of 1 NFT mean? It means a single token exists for that digital work, with no copies or numbered editions. The token records who holds it on a public blockchain.
Do I need a crypto wallet to receive an artmoovik? No. The gift is a private link that opens in any browser, with no wallet, app or account. A wallet only matters if you want to hold the token yourself; if you do, ask us after your purchase how it works for your piece.
Is the letter or the recipient's name stored in the NFT? No. The token holds the painting and its song only. Names and the letter stay on the private gift page and are not put on the blockchain.
Is an NFT gift a good investment? We don't present it as one, and you shouldn't buy an artmoovik for that reason. Its purpose is the gift itself; the token is a record that nobody else has the same piece.
Which network is the artmoovik token on, and how do I pay? The 1 of 1 token is on the Base network. Payment for the artmoovik is currently in USDT on Ethereum (ERC-20) only.
